Puglia, Italy Travel Diary

May 20, 2020

The first time I ever visited Italy was two summers ago. My best friend, Syd, and I wanted to be completely immersed. To go where Italians go on vacation. So we booked connecting flights through Rome to Puglia, the heel of the boot. On that trip, we fell in love with this wondrous slice of heaven.

We returned again last summer (when these photos were taken), and have since vowed to go as many times as we can for the rest of eternity. It’s my favorite place on Earth. The fresh seafood, endless shades of turquoise, lazy seaside towns, baroque architecture, and hidden coves. You just can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of happiness and relaxation there. We rented a car and drove around to get lost. Every time we saw something beautiful, we parked and explored. We ate calamari for practically every meal, slept with our window cracked open to hear the quiet movements of the water, and enjoyed fresh espressos every morning. A dream. Until next time, Puglia.
