Rome, Italy Travel Memoir

May 19, 2020

There are some places in the world that I’m almost afraid to visit–worried that my expectations are far too high. Rome was one of those places. Luckily, it didn’t disappoint. It actually surprised me. The magic of Rome stretches farther than the overwhelmingly beautiful monuments and typical tourist attractions. It’s in the ivy-colored buildings, poetic accents, sparkling fountains, chic men in sunglasses scooting around on vespas. It’s in the complimentary limoncello shots, Trevi fountain at midnight, and pink sunsets. I was so enthralled, I often forgot to even take out my camera. Our trip to Rome may have only been three days, but I soaked up inspiration that will last me a lifetime. I can’t wait until the next opportunity I have to explore the Eternal City.

Some favorite spots:

The Doria Pamphilj Gallery

Sunset at the Spanish Steps (but don’t waste your money on the absorbently expensive gelato)

Otello, Trastevere
