I serendipitously met Deirdre and Jon last summer, only a few months before they made the move from South Carolina to New York City. Creating a life in a new place can be daunting, but it’s made ten times sweeter when you have amazing friends to build it with. I’m so grateful to have these genuine souls only a ferry ride away from me (which, thanks to D + J, I learned is the quickest way to travel from Williamsburg to FiDi). The first time we got together in the city, we ordered in pad thai and hung out on my rooftop. So it was only natural, as soon as the weather got warm enough, we gathered there again to create some art. My Williamsburg, Brooklyn rooftop may just be a janky, empty expanse of black tar, but it’s the perfect blank canvas for creativity.
Deirdre and Jon have the most beautiful connection with each other, and the world around them. As photographers, they see through the same lens. Their photographs never cease to leave me speechless–take a look at their work, here. Thank you Deirde and Jon for inviting me into your lives with open arms, you two spread so much warmth and true kindness.
